Being part of the Our People’s Coach Flash Mob was positive and inspiring….Shivani is incredibly organized, professional, thorough, clear and inspiring.
I was lucky to participate in street coaching initiated with love by Shivani Mair and Steve Colson. Serving something for the joy and fulfillment of helping others has been a deeply rewarding experience.
Wow!I’m still reeling from the impact we all had today. This was one of the most impactful and enlightening experiences of 2013 for me. I came away energised, ready to play a much bigger game with more confidence in my abilities. Every coaching interaction extends coaching skills in some way but what I really gained was a greater sense of my abilities as a coach.
It was in line with my desire to create profound learning and transformational shifts with ease. It was inspiring to bring coaching to a wider audience. Watching people’s faces as they underwent transformational shifts in 10 mins was incredible.
The people told us that what we were doing is so desperately needed. This will be HUGE worldwide because it is needed. Thanks for your foresight and awesome work Shivani, Steve and everyone involved.
It was a truly awesome experience, a joy and a privilege to be a part of this experience and be part of this incredible team.
I would be willing to offer my time again because this is so valuable for all concerned.
Read my blog about my experience
It was exhilarating, scary and rewarding. It was brilliant to be part of a team with a common purpose where everyone had each other’s back. The pre-session briefing/team-building were superb for creating a safe and courageous space, rigorous and collaborative. It reinforced my belief in the power and value of coaching. It also reinforced my belief in the ability of people to stop, engage, reflect and learn about themselves in such a short space of time. It was wonderful doing this as a group of coaches and assistants – sharing triumphs and failures.
If the rigor, fun and collaborative approach remains at the level it was – nothing will stop me taking part again.
I’m proud to know Shivani Mair, who had the brilliant idea of taking coaching onto the streets, with lots of other highly trained coaches through Our People’s Coach – to bring delight and practical benefit to hundreds of unsuspecting Londoners…
Our People’s Coach Flash Mobs are a spark of new hope that has touched so many lives is all because you had the courage to stand up for what you believe in Shivani. You rock!
Signing up to do it felt like a leap of faith – in myself and in the process. I had no idea what to expect and yet felt completely at ease thanks to the beautifully designed process, helpful tools, training and briefings, fantastic support systems and most of all, the environment that Shivani, Steve and Beata created for us all by their presence. It was a great experience and so powerful to see people embrace coaching and feel its benefits.
Thank you for creating the opportunity and so positively impacting so many Shivani. Huge affection and admiration.
I was part of a team of glorious, generous people all hell-bent on spreading the benefits of coaching to the non-corporate world, which is a concept which is huge, important and great to be part of. I’m so looking forward to the next one.
Your fabulous vision is out there, growing and changing the world Shivani.
I must say it was an amazing experience. Meeting great coaches and experiencing all kinds of stretch zones reached, such as stretching into rejection.
After having been part of two OPC Flash Mobs, coming back a third time made things easy and enjoyable. I even felt recharged afterwards. Fab Day! So pleased I did it! (For the 3rd time). I had such different coachees, who were in completely different life situations and were unafraid to open their hearts and it was really well organised.
I also met inspiring people on the street and in the OPC Street Team.
I loved being part of the Our People’s Coach Street Team!
The whole experience has been growthful and fulfilling on many levels right from the first moment I met Shivani, through the enrolment process, the training and the flashmob day itself. It has stretched my thinking and my vision on what we can all offer the world and has motivated me more to help people shift surviving to thriving. It has been a pleasure to work with Shivani and Steve in particular as well as all the amazing people involved in the initiative. It was very well put together, very thorough!
Thank you for allowing me to be part of this great initiative! An amazing thing you’ve created Shivani!
It was great fun and a fantastic opportunity to get to the heart of a coaching session and make a difference in just a few minutes.
I know the Our People’s Coach Street Team will go onto do great things. I have huge admiration for Shivani.
It was great. Would like to repeat it. Maybe in Berlin. I got a lot of attention from people in Germany afterwards. They asked many questions about the project and about the impact of coaching. It was almost as if the idea itself is capable of enrolling people to be coached.
Working with a team of the most authenitc, engaging, awesome people to make a postive difference to people through a technique which essentially gives a little bit of healing to those who need it, while having fun at the same time. The OPC initiative is in such accord what I believe to be the true social potential of coaching.
I will now be using this experience towards my passion to making a difference to peoples lives and continuing to develop my career in coaching.
We must spread this to Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Cape Town, Sao Paolo, Kabul…
It was wonderful to connect with so many different people and share my passion for coaching. It’s amazing the difference one meaningful conversation can make. I did not stop smiling all day! It was amazing, moving and energising. Join the movement, it’s so rewarding and inspiring!
To be a part of such a positive, giving and impactful initiative was an honour. It reinforced my belief in the power coaching has in creating real, positive transformation for anyone. If only we could have reached more people to inspire them to realise what’s possible for them.
I love the fresh, forward-thinking approach of Our People’s Coach and hope it sparks curiosity and intrigue for other coaches and coachees to come forward.
It was like everything I’ve been doing in my coaching business there on that one street in London. Some people were curious, some were totally against it and some were hugely into it. It helped me to see that not everyone is ready and open to coaching, they have their busy lives and it’s not the right time, and that’s ok. It was a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with the coaching community and a great reminder that humans don’t need to know each other for years to feel close, they just need to be open, warm, loving, respectful and kind. I will definitely get involved again, it left me on such a high!
I think it’s such a wonderful creation and I can totally see it building more and more.
Thanks Shivani for organising such an amazing day. I’ll never be afraid of approaching a stranger again.
It’s been amazing to be part of such an excellent team of professionals. All the logistics, organisation and management part of the OPC Flash Mobs were to the highest standards. Everything went smooth considering how much work and effort had to be put into this to have these results. In addition to all this – fun was always present. All the participants were up for the challenge and stayed open. Openness and excitement created the special atmosphere of the event. Everyone was highly concentrated and in the zone. This initiative is very powerful and brings together people who are ready to act and actively participate in shaping the future and show people their resources and true value.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a special & influential initiative. I feel honoured, and I’m so looking forward to doing more with Our People’s Coach as well as beginning the training to become a coach myself! Believe me this event has prompted an even more positive & hopeful outlook for myself & others.
I feel proud to have been part of such a great event!
What an AMAZING day, and exhausting! Good luck to everyone doing it in the future – you’re in for a fab time. Thanks for a fab day Shivani & Steve!
Thank you so much for opportunity to be a part of the OPC Assistant Team – it was fabulous with the mixture of emotions and learning. I took a lot from the experience…. second time round as an Assistant.
The impact that this initiative and work you’ve created is great and so so important for the world. The extent of the impact may be different for every single person we touch, but one way or the other this planet becomes a better place to live, to smile, to grief, to love, to inspire etc – because there is space created for all those emotions.
I found taking part in the the Our People’s Coach Flash Mob really fun and energising. I felt happy and fulfilled to see members of the public experience coaching and hear them say it was positive and they felt better afterwards.
Such an honour to serve on the Our People’s Coach Street Team! A truly awesome day!I learned to step out of my comfort zone for the benefit of others and grew as a person. Learning to deal with rejection and celebrate successes too. Our People’s Coach is a wonderful idea, event and experience. Would love to get involved again!
Feeling blessed to be part of a life-changing day! It’s been a profound experience.
The training was also excellent!
It was an amazing experience being part of so supportive, caring and inspiring people and feeling that I am making a real difference to people’s lives.
Taking part in a great adventure and doing things out of a normal comfort zone. Being able to connect to
people and never be frightened of a low powered response. Am ready for a blind date!
You are awesome Shivani! Keep it up! touching lives life that is a calling that can only bring a lot of happiness
Well done Shivani and the team on being courageous and getting coaching ‘out there’ to the public on the streets of London. I know it will be an even better place to be after having the flash coaching mob experience!. Here’s to next year!
The Co-Active Coast Group heard inspirational feedback from Hannah who was an OPC Assistant on Wednesday 27th Nov 2013. Great work Shivani, really exciting!
Awesome! Coaches are such generous, good hearted souls! Love it!
What an awesome idea and such a hugely refreshing approach to coaching!
It’s been an inspiring three days (November Flash Mobs), Weldone Shivani and Steve!
It was so lovely to meet and see you both “in action” Steve and Shivani.
You both are wonderfully kind people with such vibrant positive energy.
I really like the idea of ‘people coaching’ – what I like is reaching an unserved market and bringing the gift to them – the more the merrier.
In my simple world I guess the idea I like is ‘Free coaching for the masses brought to you by free sampling on the streets of the world”. That idea is inspiring -something people are getting excited about – a BIG idea – a memorable idea – a simple idea!
This idea is brilliant, clear and so beautifully accessible to all.
Shivani facilitated a very successful coaching flash mob session during ICF’s Global 2012 conference in London. She engaged and educated 38 certified professional coaches in this unique concept and worked side-by-side with them in the 3+ hour session. All participants (public and coaches alike) thoroughly enjoyed themselves, learned and were inspired by their first time experience. Her passion for coaching and energy sparked much enthusiasm and excitement among the coaches who joined her in this very unique event. Shivani is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her program for organizations who practice coaching and who are looking for a unique opportunity for professional development and engagement for their events and conferences.
Taking part in the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was a great day to: stretch, have fun, be stimulated, challenged and rewarded – in equal measure.
A great platform to refresh my skills and revive my passion for making a difference, as a coach.
I really enjoyed taking part in the OPC Flash Mob and can’t wait to hear the feedback. The OPC flash mob idea is a great way to reach the parts other coaches cannot reach – simple as that.
It’s also great to give away something that has so much value, it truly is a gift to both receive and to give, that’s why everyone wins who takes part in these OPC flash mob. What’s not to like? It’s a brilliant idea!
Wow, what a great experience! It was so rewarding and fun to be part of a great team and have a chance to make a difference to people on the street. And it’s a great way of pressure testing your coaching skills – I learned a lot about creating impact quickly and developed as a coach during the day. I highly recommend other coaches to participate in Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob!
It was immensely fulfilling and wonderful to be part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Street Team – and work with a team of exceptional coaches and inspiring people.
I’m proud to be part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Street Team. It was a unique opportunity to face any fears you have and do it anyway!
As an assistant I challenged myself to approach stranger and offer a value. I found it a bit scary and yet inspiring. I challenged my assumption about people and situations.
What I felt and saw during Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was a magical flow of different energies that each coach shared with people they were coaching. What observed was: fierce courage; wisdom; ease and flow of the dance; childlike; curiosity; passion and magical kindness. All of that energy allow the creation of love and compassion, as well as the notion that peoples hearts are in the safe and caring hands of the OPC Coaches. I wish next time, I can be one of coaches.
Shivani is off the charts inspiring. Hope all CTI coaches have the privilege of meeting her one day soon.
It was a great day…Even mother nature spread some sun-rays on us. One full day to meet new people, challenge my coaching skills and my capacity to engage a powerful conversation in 10 min! I really liked to connect and make an impact on people in the street. It was also an opportunity to meet with other coaches, to share and learn from each other’s experiences. I look forward to the next Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob!
As an OPC Assistant, I felt proud to be part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Street Team and making a positive difference to ordinary people, I love that I got the opportunity to work and interact with people I wouldn’t normally get to meet. I really enjoyed being in the moment and practicing the skill of ‘beginners mind’. What was most powerful, was seeing people so engaged and deeply connected, through these speed coaching interactions.
The OPC idea it is a precious gift for the people. A nice surprise on an “ordinary” day.
Spending my Saturday taking part in the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was a great confidence booster, plus it was great fun! I got to learn from really doing, spread the power of coaching with a strong, vibrant and fun team of certified coaches. I am inspired to do more spontaneous coaching sessions and have the reinforced courage to start a project I’ve been passionate about, even if it starts off small.
I really enjoyed: the focus on time, the subject and actions; being part of the OPC Street Team; and listening intently and connecting with the coachees.
My biggest success: I learnt to be more flexible and have the willingness to give flash mob coaching a go and that I can manage my time well. I was great to feel at ease with coaching strangers, even in the cold.
I’m now inspired to take part in more OPC Flash Mobs and offer my own clients big challenges, to see what happens.
Shivani ran a ‘flash mob’ street coaching session for us at ICF Global 2012 which was great fun and really successful. Shivani worked with 30 + delegates from around the world who were attending ICF Global 2012 – the first ICF international conference to be held outside North America, and which had SOLD OUT. The feedback from all the coaches involved was really positive and each enjoyed the experience. Plus many members of the public enjoyed their first ever experience of coaching.
Shivani was really engaging, helpful and professional. Her brief ‘training’ was clear and concise, and the de-brief afterwards was valuable for all. Shivani was a delight throughout.
During the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob, I was struck by our Japanese coach colleague who said he discovered that by taking a risk, being courageous and stepping out of his cultural boundaries to do street coaching, had brought him incredible insight.
I too, discovered that all (not just some) of my assumptions about my “coachees” were wrong.
I am inspired to work on the following skills: being courageous and challenging my own assumptions about clients (avoiding prejudice!).
Shivani did a great job of motivating us. I do believe that this enthusiasm is the main reason for Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob success. Consequently, even shy people took actively part.
Coaches taking part in Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mobs, will certainly broaden their perceptions.
Being part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was a great personal challenge, a chance to provide coaching to the public and increase acceptance of coaching to the wider community.
It clarified for me what I love about coaching and why I do it. I love the idea of taking coaching to people who wouldn’t normally experience it!
Being part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was so great! I was inspired to:
1. Connect with other coaches
2. Connect with my local community
3. Challenge myself, to face those “NOs”
Shivani’s enthusiasm, the sense of daring was really valuable for me in order to engage and coach strangers, during the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob. I am now inspired to be more daring and have more gratitude, in my personal and profession life as a coach.
I was unable to take part in the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob at the ICF Global Conference, but I asked Shivani to test her speed coaching talent with me. We had an amazing coaching session that really worth in almost 10/15 minutes. Shivani’s initiative, Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mobs could be a great move for the advancement and awareness of professional coaching globally.
Being part of the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob™ was a fabulous way to start the ICF Global Conference. Love Shivani’s energy and leadership!
I had a great experience being part of a
Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob. I crossed my own edges and connected deeply with some amazing people. I also discovered Co-Active coaching can work within a 5 mins! Thank you for the excellent thought and preparation you put in to make it work, Shivani.
It was an amazing experience to be part of Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob and despite many many rejections of my approaches on the street, the two people I coached DID have a positive shift in only 10 minutes. WOW!I love the accessibility of the approach. It worked for me.
Thanks for being so creative and courageous in getting this started.
It was an amazing and very unique experience for me. It really serves one of our missions: to spread awareness to the coaching service. I’d like to take the idea to my homeland Beirut, Lebanon.
The Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob was a fantastic warm-up to the ICF Global Conference, because it was a powerful real-life experience that propelled us into the heart of the matter. It also opened new horizons and changed some perceptions/beliefs for me. I’ll now be using the experience to:
1. A punchy short coaching session – can make a difference and it’s manageable!
2. Change of belief: taking time is necessary to generate good and sustainable changes
3. I can put a clear frame about what a coaching session is, in a very efficient (and short) manner
4. “Try & hire” approach = offer new opportunities
Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob really got us coaches out there, made us connect to life and brought home the real value of coaching in our everyday busy world. I’m now encouraged to:
1. Reach out more
2. Connect with strangers in public spaces
3. Appreciating the value I can bring – ‘don’t myself short’
I really enjoyed taking part on the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob, during my visit to London for the ICF Global Conference. It was really interesting for to me to coach in English, which is not my first language.
My first day at the ICF Global Conference still stands out from all the days, because of the Our Peoples’ Coach Flash Mob. Thank you Shivani and all participants and buddies!
It was exciting and strange at the same time. I will now be using the experience to:
1. Speak to strangers more easily
2. Observe people
The coaching flash mob experience was fun, interesting, challenging, rewarding. A great way to dive in!
