On Saturday 19th May a small but mighty OPC Street Team came together during this year’s International Coaching Week for the 17th Street Coaching Flash Mob to bring the power of speed coaching to local people of High Wycombe.

With bursts of sunshine and rain showers, the local mayor’s parade making an occasional visit and the local market stalls up and running The OPC Street Team had quite a bit to compete with, but it wasn’t long before they were interacting with the diverse range of locals, some of whom: had never heard of coaching, were interested in becoming coaches themselves, and some who were very sceptical after previously experiencing unhelpful ‘life coaching’ that they felt was unethical. With the intension to evoke human transformation, the OPC Street Team delivered free speed coaching sessions for the unsuspecting coachees, on topics such as dealing with a failing marriage, improving family relationships, the importance of taking time to recharge and how to progress with a career goal.

Just a sample of feedback from the 10 minute coaching sessions…

“It was really nice to be heard by someone who doesn’t know you and has no preconceived ideas or judgements about you.
It makes a big difference to speak to someone who’s skilled in listening and asking questions.
The OPC helped me realise how important it is for me to make an important decision, that I’ve been avoiding.
It’s impressive what difference can be made to people in such little time with speed coaching, I was just waking around whilst travelling for work and got much more today”

Jo, 50 years old

“It really opened my eyes to what’s important to me and my priorities. It was like an alarm bell in my head, one I’ve heard before but it’s much clearer now.
I feel more confident about the choices I need to make and the tone I need to give myself – if a stranger can want so much for me so should I!
It’s so wonderful and caring to do what you’re doing for free. You guys are doing a great job thank you”

Mariana, 25 years old

“Liked the analogy the coach offered me. It helped me see the value of taking time to think about the goals in my life and what I need for them. It was fun and useful. Thank you”
Hope, 35 years old

“You made my day today, thank you”
Shaun, 62 years old
